No strange illness killing Kano people —Ganduje

Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, on Wednesday, dismissed as outright falsehood claims that a strange disease has killed an unspecified number of people in the state.

The governor, who spoke on national television on Tuesday night, however, said the reported spike in deaths and burials were orchestrated by purveyors of fake news.

He said findings by the state government revealed that 13 persons had died contrary to report that 70 persons had died from a strange disease and were buried in one cemetery in the state.

Ganduje disclosed that he had already signed into law an act that would lead to the arrest and prosecution of those spreading fake news on COVID-19.
