Non-provision for petrol subsidy in 2018 budget unacceptable —NLC

Published

on

The Nigeria Labour Congress has said that it is unacceptable for the Federal Government not to make provision for petrol subsidy in the 2018 budget.

It stated that the non-provision of subsidy in previous budgets had led to secrecy and lack of transparency in the management of subsidy under the current administration.

It, therefore, demanded that President Muhammadu Buhari should send a supplementary budget to the National Assembly that would capture the amount to be spent on fuel subsidy.

The labour union argued that the non-appropriation for petrol subsidy by the National Assembly had made it easy for the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation to spend funds meant for the federation in a manner that was not transparent.
