North Korea dares US, says it's not scared of military action

Three days after the US warned that it would consider military action against North Korea if it was provoked, Pyongyang has replied by stating that it is not frightened by US threats of possible pre-emptive military action to halt its nuclear and missile buildup.

Pyongyang made the comments through its Foreign Ministry condemning US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson’s recent talk of tougher sanctions, more pressure, and possible military action against North Korea.

“The nuclear force of [North Korea] is the treasured sword of justice and the most reliable war deterrence to defend the socialist motherland and the life of its people,” the official Korean Central News Agency quoted the spokesman as saying.

Recall that Tillerson threatened North Korea days ago while speaking in Seoul at a joint press conference with South Korean Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se, he said Washington’s policy of “strategic patience” had ended.

“Certainly, we do not want things to get to a military conflict … but obviously, if North Korea takes actions that threatens the South Korean forces or our own forces, then that would be met with an appropriate response,” he said, in response to a question from CNN.

“If they elevate the threat of their weapons program to a level that we believe that requires action, that option is on the table,” Tillerson added.

Later Friday morning, President Donald Trump denounced North Korea, tweeting, “North Korea is behaving very badly. They have been ‘playing’ the United States for years. China has done little to help!”
