We won't release your citizens until Bae stops ‘blabbing’ –N’Korea tells America
According to South Korean media, neighbours North Korea failed in an attempt to test-fire a missile to mark the birthday of its leader Kim Jong-un.
South Korea’s news agency says Pyongyang attempted to launch an intermediate range ballistic missile off the country’s east coast early on Friday which failed.
According to a defence department spokesman in a statement, the US military detected and tracked the missile launch. It also added that the missile did not pose any serious threat to North America.
“We call again on North Korea to refrain from actions and rhetoric that further raise tensions in the region and focus instead on taking concrete steps toward fulfilling its international commitments and obligations,” the official said.
An official at the South Korean defence ministry said North Korea attempted a missile launch early Friday but it appeared to have failed, however. The official could not confirm the type of missile.
