Northern govs say Nigeria would’ve ceased to exist if Buhari hadn’t won 2015 polls

There may not have been any country with the name Nigeria any longer had President Muhammadu Buhari failed to win the 2015 presidential election, Northern Governors Forum (NGF) has said.

This was made known by NGF Chairman and governor of Borno Kashim Shettima on Tuesday when he and other governors from the North paid a visit on Senator George Akume; Tor Tiv V, His Royal Majesty Prof. James Ayatse, and Governor Samuel Ortom in Makurdi, Benue State.

Shettima who led governors of Bauchi and Kano states, Mohammed Abubakar and Abdullahi Gunduje respectively as delegates to Benue State, argued that nothing would have stopped Nigeria from going into extinction if Buhari had not won.

According to him, the former party in power, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was at the edge of destroying the basic component that bonded Nigeria, which would have led to the country’s total collapse.

“Had President Buhari not won the election in 2015, Nigeria would have gone into extinction and as it is now, the PDP needs to be proscribed,” he said.

He commended Benue people for their continuous support of Northern agenda noting, that “The North had moral duty to support Benue state following her continuous support of presidential candidates from the region.”

He went further to state that their mission in Benue State was to celebrate with the Tiv people for the peaceful selection of the Tor Tiv V, His Royal Majesty Prof. James Ayatse.

So they said in 2011 but nothing happened. Buhari is not the one holding Nigeria as one. It has been GOD.

Sentiment apart, truly GOD is the One holding Nigeria but if 2015 didn’t produce buhari, bloodshed and civil war would have been unavoidable which might have led to breakup.

Actually, they are very wrong. No force can tear Nigeria apart, there may be crisis, but the probability of Nigeria seceding is very low, extremely low

As far as I am concern, so far ojukwu couldn’t succeed taking the igbo from Nigeria, no other force can tear this country apart again.

The only regret I have is voting for Buhari in the 2015 election, if I’d known, I’d have voted a Jonathan who the Nothern governors think will break Nigeria to Buhari that’s keeping Nigeria in one piece with poverty and hardship in the land.

Whether we like it or not, Buhari and his style of leadership is saving the Nation from splitting up. If Buhari were as weak as his predecessor, there will be no Nigeria at the moment.
