The Plateau State Government has explained the reason behind the ban of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, IMN.

Speaking on the development in Jos on Monday, the state Governor, Simon Lalong, insisted that the decision was purely for security considerations.

“Plateau State has laws regulating the practice of religions; we have a duty to ensure that the practice of religion does not constitute a security risk to anyone,” Lalong said.

The governor stated this in reaction to allegations by the IMN that the state government copied the action of the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai in banning the the Shiite sect in the state.
