This is not my son’s body, Orji’s mother tells police

The search for the remains of the Lagos doctor, Allwell Orji, who jumped into the Lagos Lagoon on the Third Mainland Bridge, may not be over yet.

The late doctor’s mother has said that the body recovered by the marine policemen was not that of her son.

“The mother has come to identify the body recovered, but she said the deceased was not her son,” the spokesperson for the Zone 2 Police Command, SP Dolapo Badmos stated Tuesday afternoon.

Orji jumped into the lagoon on Sunday evening, after he suddenly told his driver to stop on the Third Mainland Bridge.

All efforts by marine police and fisher men to recover his corpse on Sunday and Monday proved abortive.

Marine police however announced on Tuesday that the body have been found.

Consequently, the mother of the deceased was asked to come and identify if the corpse recovered was that of her son, but after examining the corpse, she said it was not her son.
