NPA’s N234bn budget stalls in N/Assembly

The 2017 budget proposal of the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) amounting to N234 billion has stalled in the National Assembly. The budget was presented by NPA since April but is yet to be passed, Daily Trust gathered.

Sources revealed that lawmakers were being lobbied to add N25 billion to the original estimate and the move may have led to the delay in passage of the budget.

The increase being sought has allegedly led to a disagreement between a ranking senator and the Managing Director of the NPA, Hadiza Bala Usman.

Sources said while the senator has asked for support of his colleagues in both the Senate and the House of Representatives on hiking the budget, the NPA boss wants it passed without the increase.
