NPFL: Enyimba stun Pillars in Kano

Enyimba proved their mettle as defending champion by defeating Kano Pillars 2-1 on Wednesday at the Sani Abacha Stadium thereby denying the host team the chance to go top of the Nigeria league table.

Pillars went in front through skipper Rabiu Ali after 20 minutes, before midfielder Nzube Anaezemba restored parity in the 51st minute.

Experienced central defender Ike ThankGod grabbed the match winner for Enyimba eight minutes from time in a rescheduled league match today.

Pillars thus stay in second place on 24 points from 14 matches, three points behind leaders Enugu Rangers, while Enyimba climbed to 13th place with 17 points from 11 matches.
