It was another show of shame by the Lagos fans as they disrupted the Nigeria Professional Football League match between Ikorodu United and Shooting Stars of Ibadan.

Crisis started when the visitors equalised through Ajani Ibrahim with two minute to the end of the regulation time. Chinedu Onyelolu had given the home team a first half lead.

Immediately after the Shooting Stars’ goal, the fans went haywire, attacking the visitors’ supporters that travelled with the team from Ibadan while anybody with Shooting’s jersey were not spared.

The players on the field were not spared too as they were pelted with stones and sachet water on the field while the referee and players of both teams were stranded on the field.

The few security personnel at the stadium who were mostly NSCDC staff were unable to salvage the situation as the match officials were also attacked while they were been rescued out of the stadium.

The incident happened in the full glare of some top officials of the Nigeria Football Federation led by the vice president, Seyi Akinwumi and a director of the League Management Company, Nduka Irabor.

The two sides are currently fighting hard alongside Heartland, Warri Wolves and Abia Warriors to escape the dreaded drop and the Oluyole Warriors with the result are gradually moving away from the drop zone.

This is the second time such incident would be happening in Lagos, the first experience was when Shooting Stars inflicted the first home defeat of the season on MFM with the Agege Stadium banned for three matches.
