NPFL: Lobi Stars, Wikki, IfeanyiUbah secure wins

Football actions resumed in the Nigeria Professional Football League Wednesday evening with Lobi Stars, Wikki Tourist and IfeanyiUbah football clubs securing victories in the Match day 4 of the season.

Lobi Stars defeated El-Kanemi 3-0 at the Aper Aku Stadium, Makurdi with Wikki Tourist walloping Plateau United 3-0 in Bauchi while Ifeanyi Ubah FC with the help of their Brazilian players thrashed Shooting Stars 3-1 in Nnewi.

In Lagos, MFM FC shook off their humiliating defeat to record a 2-1 win over Sunshine Stars at the Agege Stadium while the Abia Warriors versus Pillars and the Warri Wolves versus Rangers games failed to produce any goals as both ties ended 0-0.

Akwa United also scored three goals as they beat Heartland 3-1 in Uyo. Aniekan Ekpe’s strike from 20 yards took a wicked deflection and goes into the net to give the hosts the lead. Heartland responded immediately with an equaliser through Onyebuchi Ajunwa.

However, late strikes from Kufre Ebong and Michael Ibe Okoro condemned Coach Alphonsus Dike to defeat in his first outing with Heartland.

The victory for Lobi has also taken them to top spot on the log with nine points from four games.
