NPFL: Reuben Bala fires Plateau Utd back to top as MFM, Rangers lose

A hat-trick from Reuben Bala and a goal from Joshua Obaje helped Plateau United reclaim top spot in the Nigeria Professional Football League table after the side earned a 4-1 win against ABS at the Rwang Pam Stadium in Jos on Sunday.

Obaje put Plateau ahead in the 20th minute before an own goal by Hamisu Saleh four minutes later made it 1-1. Plateau took the lead again just before the break through Bala from the penalty spot.

After the break, he netted n his second in the 70th minute and converted another penalty at stoppage time to end the game 4-1.

Second-placed MFM ended their five-game unbeaten run as they lost 1-0 to Gombe United at the Pantani Stadium.

Sadiq Shuaibu scored the only goal o the match in the 54th minute.

Champions Enugu Rangers lost 1-0 to Katsina United, as Timothy Danladi’s penalty gave the Katsina side the entire three points.

Elsewhere, Shooting Stars of Ibadan lost 1-0 to Nasarawa United, Remo defeated visiting Wikki Tourist 2-1, Kano Pillars were trashed 3-0 by home side Abia Warriors, El Kanemi beat Lobi 1-0, as Niger Tornadoes edged Sunshine Stars 2-1.
