NPFL Wrap: Plateau, Enyimba suffer defeat as Kano, El-kanemi win

Plateau United suffered their second defeat in the Nigeria Professional Football League this season after losing 1-0 to FC Ifeanyiubah in Nnewi on Sunday, but remained top spot despite the loss.

The only goal of the game was netted in by Prince Aggreh via a penalty kick on the half hour mark after Godwin Obaje was fouled in the box.

Also on Sunday, David Tyavkasse struck late for Lobi Stars to edge Enyimba 2-1 in Makurdi.

Ismaila Gata handed the People’s Elephant the lead from the spot in the 18th minute. The hosts were awarded their own penalty in the 54th minute which was converted by Anthony Okpotu, before substitute Tyvkasse netted in the winner during stoppage time.

El-Kanemi Warriors moved to the second position following a comfortable 2-0 home win against Nasarawa United.

Former NPFL champions Kano Pillars ended Katsina United’s five games unbeaten run with a 1-0 win at the Sani Abacha Stadium, as centre-back Chinedu Udoji scored the only goal of the game.

Niger Tornadoes also beat Gombe United 1-0 courtesy of Ifeanyi Okoye’s third minute winner.
