Nurses, midwives join JOHESU strike today

Following the end of the seven-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to address the demands of the Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU), the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), would today join its counterparts in the sector to make good their threat by embarking on a nationwide strike.

In a telephone interview, Vice President of JOHESU, Dr. Godwin Ogbonna, told New Telegraph that the National Executive Council (NEC) of JOHESU would meet in Ilorin today to review the situation, adding that it is the outcome of today’s that will determine if the union would commence the strike or shelve it.

JOHESU and the National Association of Allied Health Professionals (NUAHP) had in an earlier ultimatum, which expired today, September 20, urged the Federal Government to accede to the demands of the union, failing which their members would precede on strike.

In a new development, the NANNM issued a 12 point communiqué signed by its National President, Abdrafiu Adeniji.
