Trouble brews in Taraba APC as faction denies list for appointment into Buhari's cabinet

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole has been advised to stop employing thugs to win elections in the country.

The special adviser to Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State on Media and Communication Strategy, Mr Crusoe Osagie gave the advice to Oshiomhole on Sunday.

He said that the APC national chairman should try and support good governance, which according to him remains the surest path towards winning elections.

An apparent tussle on who controls power in Edo State between Oshiomhole, a former governor of the state and his successor, Obaseki has factionalised the ruling APC in the state and continued to threaten peace and progress of the state.

Oshiomhole had earlier reacted to comments credited to the duo of Godwin Obaseki and his deputy Philip Shaibu, that he taught them everything they are executing in the state presently, including the fight against godfatherism.
But in his statement in Benin on Sunday, Osagie accused Oshiomhole of only making efforts to cover up his unreasonable ambition to remain the ultimate godfather in the state.

“Even his allegory of politics being like a forest with dangerous animals is a poor excuse to continue to perpetuate thuggery and to keep the collective patrimony under the control of a few greedy and violent people in the name of winning units and ward elections.

“Good governance remains the surest path towards winning elections especially when you are committed to free and fair and credible elections devoid of the kind of the violence witnessed in recent elections in the country.

“So instead of trying to pacify the violent and the lawless just because you want to win elections, Oshiomhole should support the stellar performance being displayed by Governor Godwin Obaseki in Edo State, that way, he will not need the services of his thugs to win the next election,” Osagie said.
