Obj, Buhari hold secret talks

Published

on

In a show of growing romance with the APC-led federal government,
former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Tuesday held a secret meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.

This is the second of such meetings in two months.

The first meeting was held at the official residence of the president early last month.

The Tuesday meeting which lasted for over an hour was also held behind closed doors in the President’s office for over an hour.
Obasanjo refused to speak with State House Correspondents on his mission to the Presidential Villa.

It is however believed that the ex-president’s visit may not be unconnected to his mission to Guinea Bissau where he served as a special envoy to President Buhari in the country’s political crisis.

It will be recalled that Obasanjo at the instance of President Buhari had gone to restore constitutional order in that country, following the dismissal of the Prime Minister, Mr. Domingos Simoes Pereira and his cabinet by President Jose Mario Vaz recently.

It is also speculated that Obj may have used the opportunity of the visit to offer advice to Buhari on the various challenges confronting the administration, especially the brouhaha over political appointments.

Well, it sure looks like Baba Buhari can use some good advice right now. And whether you like him or not, Baba OBJ is one of the few qualified to give “Sai Baba”some much needed advice. I would say that the visit is very much in order.
