EFCC arraigns Justices Tarfa, Nwobike for alleged bribery

In a show of professional solidarity, 99 lawyers, including 32 Senior Advocates of Nigeria, SANs, have risen in defence of another Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Ricky Tarfa, who is standing trial for obstruction of justice before a Lagos State High Court, sitting in Igbosere.

Tarfa was arrained before Justice Aishat Opesanwo by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for preventing the anti-graft agency from arresting two Republic of Benin nationales and communicating with a judge of the Federal High Court who was handling case he filed against the EFCC by him.

Justice Opesanwo however granted him bail and fixed March 14 for hearing of an application filed by Tarfa asking the court to quash the charges.

The EFCC arraigned Tarfa Tuesday on a two-count charge bordering on obstruction of justice and attempting to pervert the course of justice by communicating with a Federal High Court judge that was handling a suit filed by him against the commission.

Justice Opesanwo fixed March 14 for hearing of an application filed by Tarfa asking the court to quash the charges while April 20 was fixed for commencement of trial.

The court also reserved April 20 for commencement of trial.
