English Premier League club Arsenal have officially announced former Paris Saint-Germain boss Unai Emery as their new manager, replacing club legend Arsene Wenger.

46-year-old Emery joins the Gunners after guiding the French champions to the Ligue 1 title in the just-concluded season.

He also won four domestic cups with PSG, and had previously guided La Liga side Sevilla to three successive Europa League triumphs.

The Spaniard replaces Frenchman Wenger, who left the Emirates club after about 22 years of service having won several titles which include three Premier Leagues, seven FA Cups and seven Community Shields.

“I’m very excited to be given the responsibility to start this important new chapter in Arsenal’s history,” said Emery.

Emery is set to lead Arsenal into a new era.

Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis told the club website:”Unai has an outstanding track record of success throughout his career, has developed some of the best young talent in Europe and plays an exciting, progressive style of football that fits Arsenal perfectly.

“His hard working and passionate approach and his sense of values on and off the pitch make him the ideal person to take us forward.”
