Amid reports of electoral violence within some states in the country, a security threat received at the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, at Ogbomoso North Local Government Area, has forced officials to abandon the collation process.

Professor Rasheed Okunola, Returning Officer for INEC, in a statement made on Sunday disclosed that results of the 10 wards within the local government area were moved to the town hall near the palace of Soun Ogbomosho after information reached security agents and INEC officials that some people were planning to instigate violence. This was during the reconciliation of results.

Meanwhile, Bukola Badmus, Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, Ogbomoso North had earlier accused INEC of collaborating with Adebayo Alao-Akala, governorship candidate of Action Democracy Party, to manipulate the results of the election.

Some party agents alleged that the result sheets were unclear, making it difficult to get a picture of the figures.

Okunola who had informed a police officer about rounding off and announcing the results, before the incident stated that the result would be later announced at the town hall, which is now being greatly shielded by soldiers.
