Ogonis decry Wike’s actions, seek Presidential intervention in Rivers crisis
The Ogonis in Diaspora Organisation, on Wednesday, called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene in the deepening political crisis rocking Rivers State, expressing dismay over his continued silence on the matter.
In an open letter to the President, Chief Ambrose Kii, President of the Ogonis in Diaspora Organisation, urged Tinubu to call Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to order.
Kii emphasized that the President’s inaction has emboldened Wike’s attempts to destabilize the state, undermining Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s administration for personal gains. “The consequences of your silence are dire,” Kii stated.
“Chief Wike’s actions have undermined Governor Fubara’s authority, escalated violence and insecurity, disrupted economic activities, drove investors away, exacerbated unemployment and redundancy, and inflicted untold hardship on Rivers State citizens.”

Kii noted that Wike’s actions contradict those of past governors, such as Dr. Peter Odili, Celestine Omehia, and Rotimi Amaechi, who governed peacefully and allowed successors to function effectively without interference.
“Chief Wike’s quest for control has brought Rivers State to its knees,” Kii said.
Demands
The Ogonis in Diaspora Organisation demands:
– President Tinubu’s intervention to restore law and order
– Investigation into allegations of destruction of lives and properties
– Accountability for those responsible for the crisis
– Establishment of a federal craft centre to boost skills development among Ogoni youths
– Probe into alleged $300 million fund from NNPC for Ogoni development
Kii emphasized, “The Ogoni people and all Rivers State citizens demand peace, stability, and good governance. We expect your prompt action to address this crisis. Your leadership can shape Nigeria’s future, and we implore you to act decisively.”
