OGUN: 3 feared dead, 13 injured in ghastly auto crash

Tragedy struck at Odogbolu junction along the Ijebu Ode-Benin Expressway in Ogun state when a Toyota Hiace commercial bus crashed into a median after one of its rear tyres burst in motion killing three people in the process and injuring 13 others.

According Babatunde Akinbiyi, the Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, the driver of the bus, with the number plate GGE 594 XT lost control of the vehicle when his rear tyre gave way because he was allegedly making a call at the time.

Akinbiyi said the driver who was said to be travelling from Lagos to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, when the incident occurred was among those who died on the spot.

The PPRO also informed that those who were injured following the incident have been receiving treatment at the General Hospital in Ijebu Ode while the corpses of the three victims have been deposited in the mortuary of the same hospital.

Akinbiyi said; “Three males, including the driver of the commercial bus, died in the accident, while 13 others were injured”.
