OGUN: 44-yr-old man behind bars for raping 6-yr-old girl

Father remanded in prison custody for raping 17-yr-old daughter

The long arm of the law has caught up with a 44-year-old man identified as Rafiu Moruf, a resident of Aferiku village, Idiroko area of the Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State, for allegedly raped a six-year-old girl.

According to a statement issued by state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspect was arrested following a report lodged by the victim’s mother Mrs Ranti Owonifaari.

Oyeyemi said after noticing an unusual behaviour exhibited by her child, Mrs Owonifaari decided to probe her daughter who confessed that she had been defiled by Moruf.

The state PPRO said, “She stated further that on close examination, she noticed semen in her daughter’s private parts and upon questioning the girl, she revealed how the suspect took her into his room and had carnal knowledge of her.

“Upon the report, the DPO, Idiroko Police Station, CSP Amodu Aloko, led detectives to the suspect’s house, where he was promptly arrested. On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime.

“The victim has been taken to the hospital for medical treatment and issuance of a report.

“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for proper investigation and prosecution.”
