Amosun’s candidate accuses ex-gov, APC of planning to rig Ogun guber election

Following the advice offered him on the need to drop his case against Governor Dapo Abiodun in court, the governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Ogun State, Adekunle Akinlade, on Tuesday, chided political parties under the aegis of the League of Registered Political Parties in the state.

In a statement by his media Aide, Azeez Adelani, Akinlade described the advice from the group of political parties as a mere distraction to deter him from claiming his mandate from Abiodun, alleging that members of the group were paid on their mission.

He maintained that he would not be intimidated in the course of seeking redress to alleged anomalies in the March 9 governorship election in the state.

The statement partly read, “As a responsible political party with people-oriented manifestos, the Allied Peoples Movement governorship candidate will not be intimidated by any irrelevant group to abandon the mandate freely given to him by the good people of Ogun State at the just- concluded general elections. As we are soaring to victory with a belief that good will always triumph over evil, no matter the cost.

“We wish to educate the mischief makers that our resolve to approach the election tribunal is to seek redress to the injustice meted out to us at the March 9 governorship election in Ogun State, as allowed by the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“We understand that the conference was that of inconsequential money-seeking politicians, billed to create fear, apathy, discouragement; and to intimidate the reasoning of our teeming loyalists and people of Ogun State to believe the odds are against the APM at the tribunal. Whereas, in reality, they are afraid as regards revelations so far at the tribunal.

“Besides, the intrigues and the fraud that surrounded the declaration of the election results by the electoral body, despite our calls for its abortion, due to the abnormalities observed.
