PDP insist Kashamu not its Ogun gov candidate, dubs him a paid agent to destroy party

The Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday inaugurated its new executive members for the next four years.

All the new executive members were said to be loyal to the former Ogun East senator, Buruji Kashamu.

The exco members during the event got a car gift each from the Omo-Ilu Foundation, which is funded by Kashamu.

The oaths of office were administered to them by a lawyer and a notary public, Victor Owokoya and Oluwatoyin Omomehin respectively, in batches of 15 persons due to COVID-19 social distancing order.

The event took place at the party’s secretariat located along Oke-Mosan Road, Kuto, Abeokuta.

Among the new executive members are Kehinde Oladehinde, deputy chairman; Adeleke Shittu, secretary; Abimbola Lanre, women leader; and Rafael Olaosebikan, youth leader.

Also inaugurated as executive members included Vivian Ogunwo, legal adviser; Olasunkanmi Oyejide, Publicity Secretary; Tomi Anifowose, financial secretary, and Toyin Atoba as Treasurer.

According to the state’s new PDP chairman, Samson Bamgbose, the new execo members would assume office on Monday after the tenure of the outgoing state exco terminated officially on May 10, 2020.

On whether the inauguration is legal, considering existence of another faction of the party in the state, Bamgbose said the congress that produced its executive was backed by the constitution of the party.

He added that the list of names of the newly inaugurated executive had since been forwarded to the National Executive Committee of the party in Abuja.

“About what is happening now, as far as I am concerned, there is no error.

“Today, we are doing our inauguration of the executive that has been constituted and elected and before we can do anything, we must be inaugurated,” he said.
