Okagbare finish second in Rabat Diamond League

Blessing Okagbare-Ighoteguonor on Sunday competed in her second 100m race of the season at the Rabat Diamond League, Morocco, finishing second in 11.11secs, her Season’s Best, as she continued her preparation for the Rio Olympics Games.

The sprinter started her season with 11.30secs and improved on her timing, finishing second behind Jamaica’s Elaine Thompson, who races to a Meeting Record of 11.02secs to take the victory.

Another Jamaican, Kerron Stewart, finished third in 11.19secs.

Speaking after the race, Okagbare said: “I am happy to race here in Rabat. Despite achieving my Season’s Best, it is not what I wanted, but I am satisfied.

“Rio is my focus and I am working really hard to get there.”
