Nigeria’s double 2014 Commonwealth Games sprint queen Blessing Okagbare-Ighoteguonor has thanked her fans after early Wednesday morning’s failure to qualify for the final of the women’s 200m event.
The Nigerian champion clocked 22.69secs to place fifth in the first semifinal will now be looking forward to the women’s 4x100m for any hope of winning another medal to add to the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games bronze medal she won in long jump.
“There is nothing as bad as having to work too hard for an average result,” the Sapele-born athlete wrote on her facebook page.
“It should come easier with the work I have done. Overall I am extremely grateful to God even when it doesn’t make sense to me now.
“Thanks guys for all the love and support you have shown, thanks for always giving me the courage to brace myself up. You all are my inspiration and I am indeed grateful.”
