Okagbare turns frustration on journalists, critics

In from Nifemi Daniel …
Nigerian queen of the track, Blessing Okagbare, has slammed the Nigeria media and her critics for not supporting her quest of winning medals after she chickened out of the 200m heats event on Wednesday of the ongoing World Athletics Championships in Beijing, China.
Athletic Federation of Nigeria failed to give any reason for her absence until 24 hours after the race.
Okagbare who vowed to bounce back in the 200m after her dismal performance in the 100m where she emerged last out of eight athletes in the final took to her facebook wall as usual to slam her critics.
She alleged that some people were praying for her downfall and wishing her to test positive to drugs.

“As for the snakes blowing the trumpet and wishing that I tested positive to drugs. Keep wishing on your own downfall because I am more than what, a foolish journalist, critics, haters take me for,” she said.
She went further: “People call me ‘Warri’ when I lose a race and call me a Nigerian after winning a race. They don’t know what I am made of. I am self-motivated, confident and I work hard. I am extremely proud of my achievements.
“I owe no one an explanation win or lose. Not everyone who opens their mouth to talk or write with a pen in the name of journalism have their sanity intact.”
It would be recalled that the controversial athlete recently lashed out on officials of the AFN including the President Solomon Ogba, who was largely instrumental to her success story in athletics.
