Okorocha sacks cabinet, but retains son-in-law as chief of staff

Imo State’s Governor Rochas Okorocha has dissolved his executive cabinet and the 27 local government transition committee chairmen in the state.

He allegedly left his Chief of Staff, Uche Nwosu, who is his son in-law to continue in his position.

The sack was disclosed by Okorocha’s principal secretary, Mr Paschal Obi, on Tuesday.

According to Obi, Governor Okorocha ordered the affected commissioners to hand over to the permanent secretaries of their respective ministries with immediate effect.

For the transitional committee chairman, the governor instructed them to without delay hand over to the directors of administration and general services.

The development was confirmed by the immediate past commissioner for Information, Tourism and Public Utilities, Mr. Obinna Nshirim, who however noted that he was yet to be officially informed.

This is coming as Okorocha’s alleged plot to have his son-in-law, Nwosu succeed him, has dominated political debates in the state both within his All Progressives Congress (APC) party and the opposition parties.

The governor and Nwosu both hail from the same zone (Orlu), which has produced the governors of the state since the return of democracy to Nigeria in 1999, except for the four years Ikedi Ohakim, from Okigwe zone, ruled between 2007 to 2011.

Last week, Uche Onyeagucha, an APC chieftain in the state, following the governor’s alleged plot to have Nwosu succeed him, sent Okorocha an open letter of resignation as a member of Imo State Development Council (SDC).

Okorocha has turned Imo state to his personal property and can use his whims and caprices at his will. Imo indigenes should better stand up against this despot

Am sure okorocha will contest for senatorial seat comes 2019 so he can always stay within the corridor of power and will plant Nwosu as the next governor so he can still have control of the state.

If Okorocha isn’t stopped, he’d change the democratic system of government in Imo State to Oligarchy

That’s what’s already happening in the state, he just needs to device means of legalising it, so his family can remain in power forever. Idiot man.

The people of Imo State should deal with their tragedy, they had other better options before voting Okorocha as their governor. It is time to dance to the rhythm of husband songs. I’m not sorry for them at all
