MINIMUM WAGE: We have fulfilled another election promise, APC says

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that it should be appreciated that as a party it could query a governor and recommend him for suspension.

The National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, stated this on Sunday in response to the suspension of Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, by the state chapter of the party.

While noting that the suspension of the governor showed that the party meant business, Issa-Onilu however said that the National Working Committee (NWC) will consider the recommendation for the governor’s suspension.

Imo APC Caretaker Committee had recently recommended Okorocha for suspension from the ruling APC over alleged anti-party activities.

Outgoing Governor Okorocha, and an APC senatorial candidate for Imo West, is said to be working to have his son-in-law and governorship candidate of the Action Alliance, Uche Nwosu, as his successor.

He was said to have vowed to ensure the APC governorship candidate, Senator Hope Uzodinma, loses the governorship election in the state.

Responding to the governor’s suspension, Issa-Onilu said, “What happened in Imo State shows that the APC means business. When they bring the recommendation to the NWC, we will look at it.

“The party should be appreciated that it is possible to query a governor and recommend him for suspension. When we see the report, we will take necessary steps.”
