OYO GUBER: Race heats up as 5 parties adopt PDP's Makinde as consensus candidate

Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, on Saturday charged the security agency in the country to quickly fish out the killer of Mrs Olufunke Olakunri, daughter of the leader of the Pan Yoruba Socio-political organisation, Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti.

Makinde who expressed regret of the dastardly act also lamented that the incident showed that there is a looming danger in the region, adding that there is a dark spot in the history of the Yoruba’s renewed struggle to protect its land from invaders.

The governor while speaking further in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, described the dastardly act as shocking, saddening and despicable.

He, however, commiserated with Pa Fasoranti and the family, praying God to grant succour and comfort to the family.

He described the incident as signifying the “darkest hour of our contemporary history as a nation”, adding that only God could stand by and comfort the family at this time.

Makinde also condoled with Governor Rotimi Akeredolu over the loss.

He insisted that perpetrators must be made to face the full wrath of the law.

He also called on the Yoruba nation to take heart and be strong following Olakunrin’s demise.
