Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, and CHAN Eagles captain, Chima Akas, have reiterated Nigeria’s determination to lift the 2016 African Nations Championship in Rwanda which kicks off on January 16.

The Super Eagles will play two group games (against Niger and Tunisia) at Stade Régional Nyamirambo, Kigali on January 18 and 22 respectively before rounding off their preliminary campaign against Guinea at Umuganda Stadium, Gisenyi on January 26.

But Oliseh who is with the team in South Africa, is upbeat on the team’s chances at the tournament.
“I think they (Super Eagles) can do well in Rwanda because we have a very good team. But then in a tournament, you never know.

“We just pray we have a good start,” Oliseh told South Africa Broadcasting Company.

Similarly, Akas who replaced Gbolahan Salami as captain said the team is poised to lift the trophy.
“We want to go to Rwanda and win the cup. We have worked hard and hope our efforts are so crowned.

“We finished third at the 2014 CHAN and we now hope to win it. That is what Nigerians expect,” he enthused.
The Eagles defeated South African Premier League side Pretoria University FC 3-0 Tuesday morning and will battle fellow CHAN-bound teams Angola and Cote d’Ivoire on Wednesday and January 11 respectively, before they fly out to Kigali, Rwanda, on January 15.
