Oliseh flown to Belgium for treatment

In from Nifemi Daniel . . .

After several weeks of accusations and counter-accusations, Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh returned to his Belgium base to treat his ill health.

Oliseh had written to his employers, the Nigeria Football Federation to be excused from the Super Eagles’ CHAN qualifiers against Burkina Faso to treat himself.

The coach has been battling a sickness for the past two weeks but the Nigeria Football Federation last week denied that the coach was sick which led to the sudden return of Oliseh to the country to rubbish the reports in the media.

But fear gripped the Super Eagles camp in Port Harcourt on Thursday as the team’s doctors managed to stabilize his condition before he was taken to Port Harcourt airport en route Belgium.

According to an official who pleaded anonymity, “His condition has deteriorated so much that he had to be flown back to his home in Belgium where he will be attended to by his personal physician. I have never seen him in this state before. It is very bad.”

Oliseh will miss the second leg of the CHAN qualifier against Burkina Faso on Sunday.
