Senator Olujimi, Faseyi lose Senatorial to APC

Senator Abiodun Olujimi has returned to the Nigerian Senate to represent Ekiti South senatorial district.

This followed her swearing-in by Senate President Ahmad Lawan, who administered the oath of office to her on Thursday.

Olujimi had represented Ekiti South at the 8th Senate but lost the 2019 senatorial election of the zone to the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dayo Adeyeye.

But she had dragged Adeyeye, a former Senate spokesman, to the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal and the tribunal ruled in her favour, declaring her as the winner of the senatorial election in the zone.

Adeyeye’s effort to have the ruling of the tribunal annulled by the appellate court ended in futility as the Court of Appeal affirmed the tribunal judgment on the matter.

The court after sacking Adeyeye ordered INEC to issue certificate of return to Olujimi as the duly elected Ekiti South senator.
