The Olympic Eagles of Nigeria bounced back from their disappointing matchday one defeat to beat Zambia 3-1 at the ongoing U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The match, played at the Al Salam Stadium in Cairo on Tuesday night, saw Nigeria come from a goal down to beat the Zambians.

The Eagles had lost their opening match of the competition against Cote d’Ivoire over the weekend.

Zambia went into the lead in the 11th minute through Patson Daka, before Orji Okonkwo equalised few minutes after.

Second-half goals by Kelechi Nwakali and Taiwo Awoniyi completed the comeback for Imama Amapakabo’s side, who are looking to retain the title they won four years ago.

In group B’s other game, South Africa edged out Cote d’ivoire 1-0. The Bafana face Nigeria in the final group game on Friday.
