Nigeria’s U-23 national football team will on October 3 discover their 2019 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) group opponents in a draw billed to hold at the iconic Montaza Complex.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) revealed this much on its official website ahead of the November showpiece to be hosted in Egypt.

Only eight countries will be competing in the championship: Nigeria, Zambia, Cameroon, Ghana, South Africa, Ivory Coast, Mali and hosts Egypt.

The Egypt tournament serves also as the qualifiers for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, as the three best teams will represent Africa in Japan next year.

In preparation for the tournament, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has arranged for the Olympic Eagles to feature in Championship for African Nations (CHAN) qualifier against Togo next Sunday and also in the 2019 West African Football Union (WAFU) Cup of Nations slated for Senegal September 28.

The U-23 AFCON will hold between November 8 and 22, 2019.
