Super Eagles defender, Kenneth Omeruo is set to become a Leganes player after the Spanish side have reached agreement with Chelsea on Thursday.

Leganes, who had Omeruo on loan last season, had asked for his permanent move with an initial bid of €4m which was knocked back, but a €4.5m offer has been accepted by the Stamford Bridge club.

25-year-old Omeruo had spent the last seven years on various loans across multiple teams and leagues in Europe, including Middlesbrough, Kasimpasa and ADO Den Haag.

According to reports, Omeruo is set to sign a five-year contract with the La Liga club after agreeing terms with his new club, where he made 28 league appearances and was a key figure in the team.

Chelsea had turned down a bid from French Ligue 1 club, Amiens for the player earlier this week, while Spanish side, Celta Vigo also registered interest in him.

Omeruo featured for Nigeria at the just-concluded Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt, and scored his first ever goal for the senior national team against Guinea in the group stage.
