Onazi backs home Eagles to win CHAN title

Super Eagles vice captain and Trabzonspor midfielder, Onazi Ogenyi, has backed the home-based Eagles to win the 2018 CHAN trophy as they play in the final against host nation morocco on Sunday.

The Nigerian men made it to their first-ever final in the competiton after seeing off Sudan 1-0 in the semifinal on Wednesday to set up a Morocco clash in Casablanca.

Onazi told Complete Sports that he is impressed by the team’s performance so far, and charged the players to approach the final game with self-belief and hard work.‎

“I want to congratulate the team for their feat in the competition so far. We’re very proud of them, having qualified for the final of the competition,” Onazi said.

“There is one more hurdle to cross and that is beating the host country Morocco.

“I just want to encourage them to believe in themselves, just as we did in 2013. It won’t be an easy task especially against the hosts, but with God all things are possible.

“Let’s keep supporting the Eagles and victory will be ours by the special grace of God.”

Both Morocco and Nigeria are playing in the final of the competiton for the first since it’s maiden edition in 2009, and the Eagles will be hoping to make another history on Sunday.
