ONDO APC: Sacked chairman Kekemeke says removal irritating, can’t stand

Ondo State All Progressives Congress (APC) crisis continues to worsen by the day as its purported sacked chairman, Isaac Kekemeke, has rebuffed his removal and insisted he remains the chairman of the party.

Some members of the party state Executive Council (SEC) had last week passed a vote of no confidence on the chairman for alleged failure to discharge his responsibilities, neglect and dereliction of duty, among other offences.

The SEC members after their action immediately inaugurated a three-man fact finding disciplinary committee to investigate the former chairman while his deputy Ade Adetimehin was directed to act in his stead.

But in his reaction, Kekemeke described their action as scandalous and irritating insisting that he remained the immovable elected state chairman of the APC in Ondo State.

He said, “This scandalous and irritating move prompted by a promise of pot of porridge for the action by a segment of party executive, though not unexpected, beats the imagination of many reasonable party people.

“Sincerely I wish I did not have to react to this remote controlled, illegal and morally reprehensible conduct of some rancorous elements in the state executive, who had on many occasions travelled this ignoble path without success.’’

The crisis in APC existed prior to the last governorship election in the state. The party’s primary that saw Rotimi Akeredolu emerged as the party candidate, left the party in factions with some members dumping the party entirely.

Kekemeke, who allegedly did not support Akeredolu’s candidature, was said to have gone underground after the inauguration of Akeredolu as the governor of the state, refusing to attend state government activities.

Ordinarily, Kekemeke’s tenure was supposed to end early next year.

This is a mini version of what happened between Sheriff and Makarffi of PDP, I hope APC’s won’t go nationwide

Akeredolu brought instability to his state since he emerged the presidential candidate. The SEC are very useless and insensitive for supporting Akeredolu and illegally throwing Kekemeke out of giant sit, it will take longer time for them to survive this instability that has befallen APC in Ondo.

Kekemeke needs not to struggle with the party’s SEC or engage in war of words with them, he should take his case to the court of law for proper hearing and verdict since he feels he’s been illegally removed

How can they use dereliction of duty as a yardstick to remove him, it’s not possible for someone to neglect his duty as a ruling party chairman in Nigeria because they know what is at stake, this purely politics, Akeredolu has begin his despotic tendency too.
