Ondo Assembly passes 2025 budget, raises it by N43.4bn

The Ondo State House of Assembly on Tuesday passed the 2025 appropriation bill of N698.8 billion.
The budget passed by the House is N43.4 billion higher than the N655.2 billion presented by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on December 10.
The budget breakdown showed that N433.6 billion was allocated for capital expenditure while N 265.037 billion was earmarked for recurrent expenditure.
This budget passage followed the adoption of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation report presented by its Chairman, Mr. Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, at the plenary in Akure.
In his presentation, the chairman said the decision to increase the budget was taken after interactions with Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) during the budget defence.

Ogunmolasuyi, also the House Majority Leader, urged the state government to ensure that the Internally Generated Revenue target was realised.
He said: “The state government should ensure that the schedules which accommodate necessary adjustments that are required to meet the urgent needs of the people are conscientiously applied to the needs stated therein.”
The Speaker of the House, Chief Olamide Oladiji, said the Assembly has keyed into the governor’s vision to move the state forward.
The House adjourned the plenary to January 7, 2025.
