Ondo PDP: I’ve no time for your suit, Abang tells Jimoh Ibrahim

Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court has asked Mr Jimoh Ibrahim to remit his suit back to the chief judge for reassignment as his time as vacation judge expires in days.

Ibrahim, the Ali Modu Sheriff’s faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, for the coming Ondo State governorship election, had filed a suit challenging the legality of Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led faction of the party to conduct primaries in the state.

In the suit, he asked the court to stop the Makarfi-led faction from conducting its party primary election for Ondo State on August 22.

But Justice Okon Abang, in his ruling on Thursday, said he was only assigned to hear the matter because he was a vacation judge and that having regards to the peculiar nature of the case, that the application seeking for interlocutory order might not deserve ruling during the vacation.

He said the only time left for the vacation court is less than a week, adding that the only option left for the applicant was for the case file to be remitted back to chief judge for reassigning to another judge after the vacation.

Abang then returned the case file to the chief Judge of the Federal High Court for reassignment to another judge.

He, however, directed parties to file and serve hearing notices before the court resume from its vacation.

Justice Abang begins vacation on Monday, September 12.
