The gale of suspension in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as expected by many, has hit 22 Ali Modu Sheriffs faction members in Ondo State.

The suspension of members of the party which began as soon as the Supreme Court judgement on the party’s authentic candidate in the just concluded governorship election in Ondo State favoured Ahmed Makarfi-led group, has continued endlessly in many states of the federation.

The states already affected include, Ogun State where former Governor Gbenga Daniel, serving Senator Buruji Kashamu and several other members were affected; Kwara State and Osun State involving former deputy governor of the state Iyiola Omisore and many others.

And barely three days after the governorship election in Ondo State, which the party candidate Eyitayo Jegede lost to Chief Rotimi Akeredolu, PDP has suspended 22 members of the party for anti-party activities that culminated in its loss of the election.

The suspension was contained in a letter signed by the Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Banji Okunomo and made available to newsmen.

Those sanctioned included, Mr. Biyi Poroye, Denis Alonge, Ebenezer Alabi, Olabisi Johnson, Olu Ogunye, Omololu Meroyi, Yemi Ajonibode and Musa Megida, Isaac Alase.
Others are, Sola Ebiseni, Ademola Genty, Yemisi Akinyemiju, Dare Emiola, Yemisi Akinmade, Ade Adebawore, Bakita Bello and Adegboruwa Taiwo, Mr. Omowole Oluwagbehinmi, Gbamila Ogunji, Abiye Ademoyegun, Johnson Alabi and Dara Akinbobola.

“In line with Section 57 of the constitution of our party and the inherent powers conferred on the State Working Committee of the party,” the party noted in the letter, directing the affected members to appear before the disciplinary committee on Monday December 5, 2016 at the party secretariat in Akure, the state capital.

Okunomo further claimed there was no more division in the party, as the Court of Appeal has ruled that the Ahmed Makarfi faction is the authentic state executive.
