Ondo wants to generate revenue from cannabis plantation

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has explored revenue generation in the state in the plantation of cannabis.

The governor, in company of the Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Col. Muhammad Mustapha Abdallah rtd, on Monday visited Thailand for a Program on Medicinal Cannabis Extract Development.

A statement by the media aide to the governor, Allen Sowore said the visit was aimed at exploring the commercial potential of cannabis in Ondo State.

At the programme which held at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Bangkok, Thailand, the governor said the model of Cannabis extraction in Thailand would be replicated in the state.

He said “we are here to study how cannabis can be of more advantage to the state and Nigeria at large just the way Thai Government has done. Cannabis is used for medical purposes; how can it be cultivated for specific purposes and not be abused?”
