At least one person died and three others were injured when a new DHL cargo plane crashed in Lithuania on Monday.

The aircraft crashed after it landed at Lithuania’s Vilnius airport, skidded into a house, and killed one person.

The three other people onboard were injured but no one on the ground was hurt.

The scheduled flight was operated by Swiftair on behalf of DHL and took off from Leipzig, Germany.

A spokesman for Lithuania’s National Crisis Management Center said it crashed around 0330 GMT, while approaching the destination airport for landing.

The spokesman noted that the police and prosecutors are investigating the incident but there was nothing to suggest an explosion preceded the crash.

“At the moment we don’t have any data that there was an explosion,” he said.

Police told journalists that 12 people had been evacuated from the house hit by the plane.
