One injured as letter bomb explodes at IMF

One female employee of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) was injured on Thursday when a letter bomb exploded in her face while trying to open it, at the Paris office.

The device which injured her face and arms, was homemade, according to French police chief Michel Cadot told reporters.
He stated that there had been threats of such an incident, but it is unclear if it is related.

No claim has claimed responsibility for the Paris bomb, even as IMF chief Christine Lagarde condemned the explosion as “a cowardly act of violence.”

“I … reaffirm the IMF’s resolve to continue our work in line with our mandate. We are working closely with the French authorities to investigate this incident and ensure the safety of our staff,” she said.

President Francois Hollande said French authorities would do all they could to find those responsible.
