KANO: Ganduje demands public apology from Emir Sanusi for meaningful reconciliation

Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, said on Saturday night he had secured the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari to relax the 14-day lockdown imposed on the state.

The governor had earlier on Saturday announced the relaxation of the lockdown.

He later made a U-turn and called for full compliance with the presidential directive.

President Buhari had last Monday ordered a total lockdown in Kano over the upsurge in COVID-19 cases and mysterious mass deaths in the state.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Abba Anwar, the governor said he had the consent of the president to relax the lockdown on Mondays and Thursdays.

“We sought for the consent of Mr. President on how to relax the lockdown, to allow for some free movements of people but within stipulated hours of the agreed days.

“Due to that, I am hereby making an announcement that each Monday in the lockdown period between 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. people are allowed to come out and make some purchases. So, also on Thursdays between 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. people are allowed to be out within this stipulated time.”
