Only selfish politicians are remaining in APC —Ex-Dep spokesman

'Their Change Agenda has failed. The #NextLevel Agenda is fraudulent'- Timi Frank

Former deputy national publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has described the mode of primaries to be adopted by the party as a shameful development.

Regretting that APC even as a ruling party could not unanimously take and stand by its decision on the mode of its primary election, Frank suggested that politicians of worth have all deserted the party.

According to him, very soon Nigerians will come to understand the people still remaining in the APC are selfish politicians who are only there for their personal political interests and not for the good of the country.

The APC’s National Executive Committee (NEC) had during its recent meeting resolved to use direct primaries for presidential nomination and the indirect primaries for Senate, House of Representatives, Governorship and State Houses of Assembly nominations.

However, not long after that decision, the Adams Oshiomhole-led National Working Committee (NWC) of the party reversed the decision. The development has witnessed divisions among party members. While some are insisting on indirect primaries, there are those threatening fire and brimstone should the party not adopt direct primaries.

Reacting in a statement on Monday therefore, Frank said, “It is a shame that a ruling party cannot unanimously take and stand by its decision on the mode of its primary election.

“Nigerians will soon realise that the calibre of people remaining in the APC are only there for their personal political interests and not for the good of the country.

“It is only in the APC-led Federal Government that more than three camps exist around the President – where the Chief of Staff has his own camp, Vice President leads another camp and the President himself is comfortable presiding over a divided house.

“The case is the same among the security agencies where there is no synergy and harmony. So how can a disunited ruling party protect or unite a vast country like Nigeria?”

Frank, who was among chieftains of the APC that recently dumped the ruling party, described those defecting to APC as making costly mistake, saying that they will soon have themselves to blame as they will soon rush out with bitter experiences.

Frank went further to describe APC as a one-man-show-political-party where nothing happens without express orders from the Führer.

The party’s former spokesman who said APC has remained a confused party, recalled how the President was not straightforward on whether the party should allow tenure elongation or not for the former national executive led by Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.

Noting that infighting within the APC epitomizes its “lacklustre leadership approach which has manifested in unmitigated crisis, policy somersaults, dwindling economic fortunes and rising unemployment and insecurity across the country,” Frank urged Nigerians to unanimously reject the ruling party at all levels in 2019.

He warned that should Buhari and his APC administration be allowed to continue after 2019 general elections, that Nigeria might witness worse economic and social stagnation.
