Onnoghen’s suspension: Buhari prefers to appoint a Nigerien – Clark

Published

on

The dust on the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, is yet to settle. The leader of Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Chief Edwin Clark has said that President Muhammadu Buhari would rather appoint somebody from Niger Republic than a South-South person, who is a Nigerian.

Clark stated this in Abuja decrying the suspension of the Onnighen as CJN. According to him, Buhari has never been comfortable with appointment of a South-South person, as he had also sacked the acting Director General of Department of State Services, Mathew Seiyefa from office. He said the President would prefer to appoint Nigerien than a South-South person who is a Nigerian.

The former federal commissioner also said the appointment of board members of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) was skewed against the South South, where the oil comes from.
