Everton sign Nigerian wonderkid Henry Onyekuru

Nigerian striker Henry Onyekuru made his official debut for Belgian side Anderlecht in their 2-1 Super Cup victory over Zulte-Waregem on Saturday.

The 20-year old, who joined the club on loan from Everton this summer after completing a £7 million move to the English Premiership side, came in as a substitute in the 64th minute.

Zulte-Waregem opened the scoring and were already 1-0 up in the third minute thanks to a Davy De Fauw goal.

Sofiane Hanni equalised in the 46th minute, before Adrien Trebel scored the winning goal in the 59th minute to secure the Super Cup for Anderlecht for the 13th time.

Onyekuru finished last season as the joint leading scorer in the Belgian Super League with 22 goals in 38 games, attracting the attention of a host of clubs across Europe.

Everton signed the young star and loaned him back to the Belgian league. Onyekuru is expected back at Goodison Park after his 12-month loan spell at Anderlecht.

According to Everton, a season with Anderlecht, who will be playing in the Champions League, will be significant for Onyekuru’s development and help him become a much more polished forward.
