Nigeria forward Henry Onyekuru felt ‘great’ after opening his goal account for Turkish club, Galatasaray in their 2-1 defeat to Valencia in a pre-season friendly on Saturday.

The striker, who scored nine goals in 19 league appearances before getting injured last season at Anderlecht, hopes to return fully to his scoring prowess.

Spanish club Valencia were leading 2-0 in the game played at the Stade St. Léonard in Switzerland before Onyekuru, who came in as a second-half substitute, pulled one back for his new side.

“Preseason continues… it was great to score my first goal for the club, seems like so long ago .. I can get used to this feeling again ? #Hardwork #Dedication #gala #valencia,” Onyekuru wrote on his Twitter handle few hours after the game.

The former Anderlecht striker made his first appearance for the Turkish giants last Wednesday when they faced Dutch club, PSV Eindhoven. They also lost the match 2-1.

Onyekuru is on loan at Galatasaray from English Premier League club, Everton.

He cost Everton £6.8m two summers ago, and may finally join the Toffees next season if things work out as expected especially in terms of obtaining a work permit in England.
