BAYELSA: Police vow to arrest killers of Sergeant

Operation Puff Adder launched by Nigeria Police on April 5 has started to yield some positive results towards the curtailment of banditry, kidnappings and other criminal activities.

This was especially as 46 suspected bandits and kidnappers were said to have been arrested following the launch of the operation.

The acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, who made this known Thursday, added that officers deployed for the exercise have also recovered illegal weapons from criminal suspects.

Noting that two abductees had been rescued through the exercis, Adamu explained that the 46 suspected bandits and kidnappers were arrested in separate operations across five states of Kogi, Niger, Zamfara, Kaduna, and Katsina.

He also said that some were arrested in Abuja, adding that 10 suspects were killed in action.

He listed ammunition recovered to include 18 firearms made up of nine AK-47 rifles and nine locally fabricated/automatic guns; 1300 live ammunition for AK-47 rifles and 28 cartridges.

The operation was launched to eradicate activities of bandits, kidnappers and other criminal elements.
